But as for me and my house ...
The United States is presently under martial law without cause. The Executive Order specifically excludes Congressional oversight. Executive Orders are not confirmed by vote of Congress, thereby undermining and usurping the power which was designed to rest with the citizenry via their representatives in Congress. The NDRP removes due process and judicial oversight of ANY action by the Government. The Defense Production Act, 1950, granted the government powers in the event of national emergencies. Since 2001, government power has increased under the guise of the war on terror. With this latest Executive Order, every aspect of American life is controlled by the President and his cabinet secretaries at their discretion and without challenge. The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that proclaimed the entire country a "battlefield," was rushed through Congress with little debate. NDAA 2012 authorizes the president and his agents the ability to arrest any U.S. citizen without proof of criminal activity, due process, or judicial oversight; and, detain them indefinitely without charge or trial, in direct violation of the Constitution. Yet, the Congress can do nothing about it because Congressional Democrats repeatedly block efforts to hold the President accountable to the Constitution. The NDAA 2012 gives the president sole authority to revoke the freedoms of U.S. citizens; and, Executive Order #13617, assigns this power through the president to the secretaries that run the government. Executive Order #13617 allows the president and his secretaries to commandeer all U.S. domestic resources, including food and water (even that which is in a citizen's home), water resources, as well as seize all energy and transportation infrastructure, as well as, forcibly draft U.S. citizens into the military and force U.S. citizens to satisfy "labor requirements" for "national defense."
Executive Order #13617 allows the government unfettered control over every aspect of the nation in defiance of the Constitution. From experience, I awyers know how to break the law without consequence. Maybe we shouldn't have a president who studied Constitutional law. It is quite possible he studied Constitutional law for a reason. How did we get to this juncture, when the checks and balances of our Representative Government have been devastated? We only have to look at the history of this century to recognize that it is by these very means of seizing power that tyrants such as Stalin, Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot conquer.
