But as for me and my house ...
A United Nations resolution to recognize a Palestinian nation and upgrading the Palestinians' status in the UN general assembly passed yesterday by a vote of 138-9, with 41 abstentions. There are 193 'world body' member states in the UN. Only nine member countries voted "no" Thursday: Israel, the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic, Panama the Pacific island nations of Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru and Palau. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has now been given authority to establish a Palestinian state. Abbas wants the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem, the territories captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast war, returned to Palestinian control. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded to the UN vote. (See video below) This turn of events will only embolden the Islamic nations that seek Israel's demise. However, we must remember that God has brought his people back to the promised land for the third (and, I believe, final) time. Israel is the only people in human history that lived without a country to call home (the Diaspora) for almost 2,000 years; enduring repeated attempts by different nations to eradicate them, yet remained a people. All of this is in accordance with a the prophecies contained in the Tanahk ('Old Testament') wherein God said he would disperse his people among the nations for their sins against him (Leviticus 26:33, Deuteronomy 28: 64-66, Ezekiel 4:3, 22:15, Jeremiah 30:11, 46:28) , Isra'el would be despised by everyone (Jeremiah 29:18, 44:8), and yet, he would bring them back to the beautiful land where they would never be uprooted again (Isaiah 5:26, 49:22, Ezekiel 20:14, 36:24, Amos 9:14-15). These are but a few verses on these subjects. What occurs between the time Israel returns to the promised land and when God cleanses the people of their 'blood guilt' (Ezekiel 36:24-26, 33), is called the 'time of Jacob' trouble.' That is where we are today. Part of the end of days prophecies concerns God's judgment of the nations for the atrocities they have committed against Israel, including dividing God's city (Jerusalem). The nations have stated their intent. Not only Muslim nations, but the nations of the world. Thus, the line has been drawn in the sand. How long before God acts on his promise? For then, at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Y’hudah and Yerushalayim, I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Y’hoshafat [Adonai judges]. I will enter into judgment there for my people, my heritage Isra’el, whom they scattered among the nations; then they divided my land. (Joel 4:1-3) Truth!
