But as for me and my house ...
The UN has a problem with promoting its stance on abortion. While the UN Human Rights Council has stated abortion is not morally objectionable, at the same time it denounces abortion for sex selection as a violation of human rights. Add to these contradictory statements the fact that in the United States, one who murders a pregnant woman is guilty of two murders. Additionally, the UN is ignoring a 2009 report by the world's largest abortion provider, International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), that reveals an alarming "surge" of maternal deaths in South Africa (20%) from 2005-09 in, in conflict with the pro-abortion slogan that liberal abortion laws decrease maternal mortality. The United Nations is also guilty of assisting China in enforcing its “one-child” policy through forced abortions, involuntary sterilization, kidnapping of “illegal” children, and other brutal tactics. An investigation by the Population Research Institute (PRI) revealed evidence of UN complicity in the atrocious human rights violations, utilizing U.S. taxpayer dollars to do so. In October, 2012, the UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution endorsing a new set of guidelines asserting that abortion is a human right. The Council has been trying to get the Treaty (signed by President Obama in 2009) through the U.S. Congress, despite the fact that the “technical guidance” paper used in designing the resolution was rejected in 2011 by the UN General Assembly. And, twenty of the 47 Council members submitted written oppositions that accompanied the text when the UN General Assembly considers this updated proposal for adoption. The UN agenda is revealed in the fact that only abortion rights groups such as Amnesty International, International Planned Parenthood Federation, Ipas, and the Center for Reproductive Rights, were consulted although recommendations were made to seek input from pro-life groups and those who want to protect the rights of conscience for healthcare providers. It seems that the UN strategy to reduce global population doesn't require approval by member nations which is the reason the U.S. Senate did not ratify the Treaty. “This unelected bureaucratic body would pass recommendations that would be forced upon the United States if we were a signatory,” Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) argued, adding that the treaty would infringe on U.S. sovereignty. I hate to tell you, Senator, but the UN is already infringing on our sovereignty.
